Today, Valve dropped a surprise update for the Steam Link app. Called Steam Link Anywhere, the new functionality allows you to play your library of Steam games on a client device connected to any network.

In other words, assuming you have a strong enough data connection, you can play your Steam games on your Android device from anywhere in the world.

The feature is in beta for the moment and there are a few caveats to keep in mind, but this is a truly exciting update and helps illuminate just how powerful game streaming will be in the next few years.

To get started with Steam Link Anywhere on your Android device, you need to do the following:

Ensure you are on the latest version of the Steam Link Android app by visiting its page at the Google Play Store.
Ensure you are on the most recent beta of the Steam client on your host PC:
1. Open Steam on your host PC
2. Head to Settings > Account
3. Look for the Beta Participation setting
4. Click Change and then select Steam Beta Update from the dropdown
Ensure your host PC and your Android client device are on a good data connection (Valve does not elaborate on what “good” means here, so your mileage may vary)

Once you’ve got that all set up, open up the Steam Link app on your Android device. Go to the Steam Link computer settings and select “Other Computer.” You’ll be given a pairing code which you’ll need to use to connect with your Steam library on the host PC. You can do this at the computer itself or you can use a remote desktop app to do it from wherever you might be.

Now, you should be able to connect to your PC that hosts your Steam library through your Android app. You should be able to pick a game and then stream it to your Android device as if you were on the same network as your host PC.

For what it’s worth, I was able to get this going without issue on my OnePlus 6T with my Steam library hosted on my Windows 10 PC. However, my T-Mobile data connection at home wasn’t fast enough to actually play anything, but I was able to get connected.

Remember that both the Steam client and the Steam Link Android app are in beta, so if this doesn’t work for you (or doesn’t work that well) don’t be too surprised. Regardless, this is an exciting development from Valve that represents just how powerful gaming will be on the 5G networks of the future, with fast speeds and low latencies.

You can use the PS3 Remote Play application when you are away from home and even when you are overseas.

A ): A PS3™ system
Connecting to the Internet using a LAN (Ethernet) cable or wireless network

D ): A wireless access point or a wireless router

Preparing for first-time use

Before using remote play via the Internet, do the following:

Link the PS3™ system and your system to the same Sony Entertainment Network account.
When using an access point provided by a commercial or public Wi-Fi service, or by a private wireless network, set up your system so that it can connect to that access point.

Registering your system with the PS3™ system

Register your system using the Wi-Fi on your system and the PS3™ system.
If you are using a PS3™ system that does not have Wi-Fi network capability, register your system by connecting your system to the PS3™ system through an access point that is connected to the PS3™ system. Perform this procedure with your system near the PS3™ system or the access point.

1.: On the PS3™ system, select (Settings) > [Remote Play Settings] > [Register Device] > [PS Vita System].
A number appears on the screen.
2.: On your system, select (PS3 Remote Play) > [Start] > [Next].
3.: Enter the number displayed on the PS3™ system's screen, and then select [Register].
When the devices connect successfully, a message indicating that the registration is complete appears.
4.: Select [OK] on the PS3™ system.

Playing remotely

To use remote play via the Internet from outside your home, you must first put the PS3™ system into remote play connection mode:

Sign up for PlayStation™Network
Use the same Sony Entertainment Network account on your PS Vita system and your PS3™ system.
Select (Network) > (Remote Play) to put the PS3™ system into remote play connection mode.

Can You Remote Play From Anywhere

1.: On your system, select (PS3 Remote Play) > [Start].
When using PS3 Remote Play for the first time, a message informs you that it is necessary to register your system with the PS3™ system. If you see this message, perform the registration.
2.: Select [Connect via Internet].
Follow the screens to complete the operation.
When the devices connect successfully, the PS3™ system screen appears on your system.

If you enable remote start on the PS3™ system, you can use remote play when the PS3™ system is in standby mode. For details, see (Settings) > [Remote Play Settings] > [Remote Start] in the PS3™ system's user's guide.
During remote play, if you go to the screen for a different application, the remote play connection is closed after 30 seconds.
