The Bitter Truth Jerry Thomas’ Own Decanter Bitters is based on a recipe by Professor Jerry Thomas (1830-1885), who is considered the most important bartender of the 19th-century. Although we are not sure if he would know what cider candies smell like since we don’t know if they existed in the 1860s.

Image[edit]

I have a better-quality version of the image attached to the article, if anyone would like it. It appears on p. 77 of 'How To Mix Drinks', but I'm not at all sure it depicts Thomas himself or if it's just an illustration of the Blue Blazer.64.131.230.21 (talk)

There's also a better scan at the Google Books page. Someone should add it. Rees11 (talk) 00:14, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
